A1 Assessor Award
This is the professional qualification for people who are, or who would like to become NVQ Assessors to enable them to make judgements against evidence presented to them by NVQ candidates.
- You have to be assessing to at least two candidates
- You need to have the knowledge, understanding, experience and competency up to the correct level in the subject area in which you are going to assess the candidates
- You are observed giving feedback to one candidate
- You produce a portfolio of documentary evidence of your competence and knowledge as an assessor
Aims:
Day 1:
· To complete Induction as a QTraining candidate (and possibly assessor)
· To introduce Q Training policies and documentation
· To introduce the roles of different organisations and people in the NVQ process
· To examine the NVQ to be assessed and explore that NVQ structure
· To introduce the NVQ assessment cycle
Day 2:
· To introduce and practice Assessment planning and feedback
· To prepare for assessment by observation and questioning methods
Before the next session each trainee assessor must plan, complete and record at least two real assessments with two different candidates, using observation and questioning methods
Day 3:
· To review progress in practising observation and questioning methods
· To explore the full range of NVQ assessment methods
· To introduce QTraining Internal Verification procedures
· To prepare for full assessment of a complete Unit
Before the next session each trainee assessor must complete assessment of at least one whole NVQ Unit
Day 4:
· To review experience of assessing a complete Unit
· To introduce Units A1 performance requirements
· To introduce Unit A1 evidence requirements
· To explore Unit A1 knowledge requirements
· To plan actions to complete Unit A1
· To evaluate Assessor Training Course
To complete their AI Award, by the end of the next three months each trainee assessor must:
- completely assess three NVQ Units using 2 candidates
- be observed being an assessor
- have a professional discussion with their assessor
- have one plan assessed by an independent assessor
- and complete their AI portfolio
