Association of Accounting Technicians - Advanced Certificate in Accounting
The AAT is an established and well respected professional accountancy organisation with over 100,000 students, full and fellow members worldwide.
The AAT's qualifications develop relevant and practical accounting and finance skills which are ideal if you want to be an accountant or account technician. If you're looking to improve your prospects and earning potential in an accounting
environment - and to get the rewards you deserve - these qualifications are a great start!
You will need a minimum of grade C or above in GCSE maths and English or completed the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting and basic competency in IT and spreadsheets.
During the one year course, the following modules will be covered:
• Financial accounting (advanced)
• Recording and analysing costs and revenues
• Operating a cash management and credit control system
• Professional ethics for accounting technicians
These modules will develop your knowledge of financial accounting further and introduce the methods of cost accounting used for management purposes.
After successfully passing this course, you will be able to study for the AAT Diploma in Accountancy but this is offered as part-time evening only. This will enable you to apply for full membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians and use the letters MAAT after your name. You will also qualify for exemption from a number of exams leading to the ACCA or CIMA accounting qualifications. You can use the Diploma to gain accelerated entry onto the second year of many accounting/finance degrees (for example at University Centre Peterborough, Lincoln University and De Montfort University in Leicester).
