BTEC First in Music (Technology Option)
The course is for you if you have a strong desire to develop music performance skills in order to follow a route that could lead to a career in the music industry or study at a higher level. You will be a person who is prepared to work long and unsociable hours and strive to succeed.
4 GCSEs at grades D or above or other Level 1 qualification preferably at merit. You will also need to attend a discussion and audition before starting this course. You will also need to be available for evening rehearsals and performances throughout the course.
Modules include:
• Planning a performance product
• Exploring the music profession
• Group performance
• Solo performance
• Exploring computer systems
• Understanding music
Technology Option
The same modules will be covered as the BTEC First in Music but with music technology specialist units.
The course prepares you for employment within the music industry and also provides an excellent grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as our BTEC National in Music Practice (you will need to achieve an overall merit grade with a merit in a performance module to meet the entry requirements for the BTEC National).
