BTEC National in Production Arts (Technical)
This course is for you if you have an interest in theatre production and enjoy backstage design and preparation (as opposed to onstage performance). You will be a person who enjoys hard work and is prepared for long hours and late nights as part of a production team.
4 GCSEs at grade C or above or other Level 2 qualification preferably at merit. You will also need to be available for evening rehearsals and performances through the course.
You will study general subjects such as:
• Planning production
• The performing arts business
• Production workshop
You will also have the chance to study specialist subjects including:
• Lighting design and management
• Sound skills, sound design and management
• Stage management
• Props
• Puppet making
You can go on to study for a degree in subjects such as technical theatre, production, design or theatre studies. The course can also be used to gain employment in theatre industry as part of a production team, backstage crew, or theatre management.
