Getting the most from your staff
This training has been developed to concentrate on the individuals in your team, and the collective capabilities of the group itself. Concepts such as Skills Matrices, Succession Planning, Performance Management are all explored focusing on techniques in assessing your team, and how to praise those that excel and deal with those that don’t. Key Learning Points In this module the focus is on the individuals in your team and how they make up the group you are responsible for. During the session you can expect to take time reflecting on the skill capabilities of these individuals and how these collectively form the capability of your team. What to do in planning and developing the success of your team now and in the future. The second part of the session focuses on the wants and needs of the individual and looks at performance managing your staff whether it is to praise achievement and success or deal with under-performance. You can expect to be This session is made up of individual work, group work and debate. During the individual work you will have a chance to reflect on your own team in private and think about where the opportunities are. In the group work we will explore performance management and getting the best from the individuals in your team. This will involve some role playing of appraisals. Finally some time will be dedicated to some debate around getting the best from your team. A chance to share experiences with other managers. Preparing for the session It would be a good idea to reflect on who you are responsible for and what tasks each individual needs to perform as part of their role. It would also be good to think about collectively as a team what you are expected to deliver and how you feel you are achieving this now.

After the course you will have had a great opportunity to reflect on the make up and skills of your team. There would have also been lots of opportunity to role play different scenarios on dealing with you staff in terms of good performance and under performance. Role play is a great way to learn is a safe environment before you approach the real thing.
